The Town of Victoria Park is using Facebook to help inform the community about its financial management processes and give them the opportunity to have their questions about council rates answered.

Following the popularity of similar sessions that were offered at community workshops last year, a live Q&A session will take place on the Town’s Facebook page on Thursday 20 July at 6pm. Participants can tune in and ask questions to find out more about how their rates are calculated and what their rates are spent on. It will be hosted by the Director Business Life, Nathan Cain.

Nathan Cain has worked in senior roles in local government for more than 20 years. He is extremely experienced with council budgets and all aspects of financial management in local government.

“Many people had the opportunity to learn about the Town’s financial management through the Evolve project – our extensive community engagement program that was undertaken to inform our new Strategic Community Plan,” says Chief Executive Officer, Anthony Vuleta.

“The community were eager to understand more about our finances so we’re trying to reach the people that missed out on attending the community workshops, using a platform that allows them to join us from the comfort of their own home.”

To be involved, visit the Town’s Facebook page at 6pm on Thursday 20 July. Questions can be asked on the night or can be sent in beforehand to admin@vicpark.wa.gov.au, or in a private message on Facebook.

A live recording of the session will be made available for viewing after its completion.
