Social and Leisure Activities for Seniors
The Town considers Seniors to be a vital part of the community and makes every attempt to include Seniors in community activities.
Recreational and Social Activities
Exercise is the key to staying strong, energetic, and healthy as you get older. It can help you manage the symptoms of illness and pain and maintain your independence. Not only is exercise good for your body, it is good for your mind, mood, and memory.
The Vic for Life Health Club located at the Leisurelife Centre hosts a variety of fitness activities including senior circuits and the ‘Living Longer, Living Stronger’ Program. Leisurelife Centre is also the home of one of Perth’s largest Bingo Events every Saturday night. The Aqualife Centre provides for a variety of activities such as swimming, senior aqua aerobics and hydro pool walking as an ideal way to maintain a healthy lifestyle, and exercise after injuries or surgery. Both Centres offer discounts to government concession card holders, are located close to public transport routes and have accessible parking and facilities.
The Rejuventation Station is a specially designed hub of playgroup equipment located at Read Park, Corner Albany Highway and Salford Street, Victoria Park. It was installed to encourage a sense of fun in maintaining strength, coordination and balance for Seniors and people recovering from illness and injury.
Volunteering Activities
Vic for Life Volunteering assists residents to find volunteering positions with local not for profit community groups supporting residents within the Town.
