Swimming Pools

If you plan to install a swimming pool on your property, you must first get a Building Licence approval from the Town.
Once installed all pools must:

  • Be fenced in compliance with the Australian Standard AS 1926.1 – 1993
  • Be inspected, approved and registered by the Town before it can be filled with water. Further inspections will be carried out within a four-year period
  • Swimming pool pumps and filtration equipment should be suitably located (i.e. as far away as possible for neighbouring properties) in order to minimise noise impacts on neighbouring properties.

Houses Sold with a Pool or Spa

The purchaser of a property with a pre-July 1992 pool is required to update the safety requirements within three months of the date of settlement. This amendment requires these pools to have either a complying fence or have the house and boundary comply as the barrier.
