Rochelle Lavery

Director Future Life and Built Life

Meaning of Life?

To create a Vibrant Lifestyle for our Town. The Life theme is well represented not only in our titles but also in how we align ourselves to a common vision.

Rochelle Lavery was born and raised in Western Australia. She graduated from the Western Australian Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Arts (Urban and Regional Studies) and later completed postgraduate studies in Urban and Regional Planning at Curtin University.

The first 10 years of her career were spent in private town planning consultancies specialising in master planning and subdivision. She later moved to State Government working for the then Ministry of Planning to undertake project work in the Metropolitan South team.  She was asked to apply for the position of Manager of Planning at the Town in 1997 and decided that the Town would be an interesting place to work for a while, with the plan to return to consultancy. Fifteen years later and Rochelle is still enjoying the challenges of planning for the future growth of an inner city council.

Rochelle is an avid animal lover and has two Irish Wolfhounds. She believes that animals and children are the fundamental building blocks of a community, particularly in Victoria Park.

BUILT LIFE

Built Life strives for excellence by facilitating innovative design in the built environment and neighbourhood planning.  We endeavour to enhance our unique character by promoting high quality development and vibrant, liveable streetscapes. Built Life’s core business is processing development applications and subdivision referrals and clearances; assessing development compliance and regulation; policy implementation and review; and enforcing adherence to the Town Planning Scheme.

  • Local Planning Policy Streetscape Review
  • Development along Albany Highway
  • Development of the Causeway Precinct

FUTURE LIFE

The Future Life Program provides integrated comprehensive direction for the future development of the Town through strategic planning, sustainability and transport planning. The key projects currently being managed by this area are:

  • Town Planning Scheme Review and Local Planning Strategy
  • Activity Centres Strategy

We become happier when we realise that life is an opportunity rather than an obligation
