Meaning of Life?
To bring life and knowledge into the community through everything we do.
Tina Ackerman is originally from Vancouver Island in Canada and moved to Australia in her late teens. She remembers regularly visiting the library with her father when she was younger and from those trips developed a lifelong passion for learning. She graduated from Curtin University with a Bachelor of Applied Science (Library and Information Studies).
Tina started her career in local government at the City of Canning as a student librarian in 1987 and worked her way up through various local governments to be Manager of Library Services at the Town before becoming Director of Community Life in 2011. She hopes to contribute to creating a dynamic and sustainable Victoria Park.
Tina is of course an avid reader and enjoys playing the piano.
The Community Life Program aims to create a vibrant Town that is a place of social interaction, creativity and vitality, where cultural diversity and harmony are celebrated. We want to connect people to services, resources, information, facilities and experiences that enhance their physical and social well being and provide opportunities for lifelong learning for all sectors of the community. The key projects managed by this area are:
- Aqualife Centre
- Leisurelife Centre
- Victoria Park Library
- Town Events Calendar
- Access and Inclusion
