Cats

Residents can keep up to three cats over the age of three months on their property.

Sterilisation

Thousands of unwanted kittens and cats are euthanized needlessly each year. The Town supports responsible cat owners and offers a sterilisation subsidy to Pension and Health Care Card holders.

The subsidy for a male is $70.00 and a female is $90.00 (GST inclusive). To participate in the program you will need to;

  • Have your cat sterilise at a vet of your choice
  • Present the completed application form with a copy of the sterilisation certificate, proof of residency and Health or Pension card

Lost Cats

The Town does not have the facilities to transport or impound found cats. All enquiries regarding lost or found cats should be made to Cat Haven.

Rehoming Cats

The Town supports the work of Cat Haven and 9 Lives Cat Rescue. We urge residents considering getting a cat to contact these organisations and save the life of a cat who needs home.

If you are experiencing a problem with your neighbours cats, please contact Environmental Health Services by completing a Health Service Request form.

Ask yourself what makes you come alive, and go do that. What the world needs is people who have come alive
