Significant trees
In the early 1990s, The National Trust (WA) and The Tree Society made efforts to establish a Register of Significant Trees, not only to save these specimens but also to interest the public in the value of trees generally.
Trees are seen as an integral part of the landscape and a significant part of the heritage of an area. The project did not materialise and enquires in the early 2000s indicated that there was renewed interest to re-activate the register.
