What is Community Planting Day?

Every year, the Town’s Urban Forest Team holds community planting days. It is a day where residents and community members are invited to plant tree seedlings at a selected park or area around Town that has been identified as suitable for creating Urban Ecosystems.

Our community planting days coincide with celebrating NAIDOC Week and National Tree Day (on 1 August) every year, where Australians are encouraged to celebrate our country's rich Indigenous culture and history, and help plant one million new native trees and shrubs across the country, respectively.

Community Planting Days are family friendly events and the Town invites everyone to don their gardening gear, bring their gardening gloves and spade to attend a planting event. The Town will provide all seedlings and other fun community activities.

Did you know? Our 2021 Community Planting Days contributed 8314m2 of canopy cover! Find out more.
