This day of Remembrance started after the 11 November 1918, when four bloody years of brutal conflict came to an end. Almost 62,000 Australians died fighting for our freedom and in service of our nation. With their armies retreating and close to collapse, German leaders signed an Armistice, bringing to an end the First World War.
