Coffee & Change - Repair to Re-wear
Don’t throw out those clothes!
The Town is proud to introduce Coffee & Change – a series of sustainability-focused events designed to inspire behavioural change, with two workshops being held at Organic Café in East Victoria Park
22 November 2017 - SOLD OUT
9 December 2017 - tickets available
Coffee & Change pairs great coffee with great conversation and will bring together local groups, organisations and community members to learn how to make some small changes to live life more sustainably.
Did you know?
Australians send over 500,000 tonnes of textiles to landfill each year – most of which is man-made synthetic or plastic fibres that may never breakdown.
The first Coffee & Change event – Repair to Re-wear will feature special guest Petra Richardson from Spotted talking about how to mend and clean your clothes to make them last longer and save them from landfill. Members of the Victoria Park CWA will be teaching sewing/mending skills on the day. This event is supported by Switch your thinking.
Coffee & Change aligns to the Town’s new Strategic Community Plan which has a big focus on sustainability and community connectedness, with the Town’s new vision including “we lead in sustainability”.
This event is free, but ticketed with limited places. To register visit www.trybooking.com/SIDF
The Town has designed these events to be accessible and inclusive and will be providing a free child-minding service at the event for parents, who are encouraged to attend.
We ask people attending to bring a reusable coffee cup and an item of clothing that you would normally put in the bin.
