Tech savvy 2019 classes will be held at the library on the last Saturday of the month. There will be two sessions, the first between 10am-12noon and the second from 1pm-3pm.

Learn how to get the most out of your digital devices such as tablets, laptops, mobile phones (Apple and Android) as well as how to use the library digital collection and online e-resources. Please bring your own device.

These sessions will be run by Roger Meakes and Casey Chang from the Digital Hub. Each month will address a different topic.

Classes are free but bookings are essential as numbers are limited. To book click on links below.

Saturday 23 February: Kanopy- how to use this movie streaming platform as well as SBS on Demand and ABC iView. Includes a full demonstration of how to use these free e-resources.

Saturday March 30: Instagram- how to use it to: project your group or club achievements or display your wares. Co-presented with Verana Marmion from the WA Watercolour Society.

Saturday April 27Energy use management in the home - Ways to reduce energy bills, includes a demonstration of how to use an energy cost meter, available for loan from the library.

Saturday May 25: Google Photos- how to sort and store your digital photos. Bring your laptops, tablets, smart phones and cameras so they can be linked to your Google Photos.

Saturday June 29Back up to ‘the cloud’ using iCloud, Google Drive and One Drive. Includes a demonstration of synchronising files, using USB thumb drives and memory sticks.

Saturday August 31: Gumtree, eBay and Facebook market- how to buy and sell online. Includes an overview of how to pay online using PayPal and like services. Outlines current scams and how to report a scam.

Saturday September 28: Android Phones- how to get the best out of them. Includes tips for useful apps, an overview of cracked screen repairs, how to reduce data usage costs and find cheaper phone plans.
