One-on-one digital literacy support is available in the Victoria Park Library.

Digital literacy means having the skills, knowledge and information you need to live, learn and work in a world that increasingly uses the internet.

When it comes to technology, we can all use a little help from time to time, so book a 45 minute appointment where you can seek personalised help on a problem or topic of your choice.

Here are some of the things we can help you with:

  • learn how to connect to the national broadband network (nbn) if you don’t already have a connection at your home or premises
  • learn how to use your mobile device – a smart phone or tablet such as an iPad
  • learn how to spot scams from emails or on your phone and what to do about them
  • know how to operate your Windows or Apple laptop or computer
  • learn to set up and use an email account and keep it safe with passwords, so you can shop and bank online, check statements, be connected to services and much more
  • how to use the internet and social media sites like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn so you can keep in touch with friends and family
  • How to have an appointment with your GP online or over the phone using video (it’s simple once you know how)
  • have fun buying and selling online using sites such as Gumtree, eBay and Facebook Marketplace
  • fix software issues you might be having
  • search for jobs and submit online job applications and resumes
  • access online library resources including the Kanopy streaming service
And much, much more.

Who will help you?

You will be guided by one of our two digital literacy experts – the Town’s Digital Literacy Officer, or a Community Ambassador from NBN Co.

NBN Co is the company that is building and operating Australia’s national broadband network (nbn), the digital platform upon which we are delivering digital connectivity to every home and business to ensure they can enjoy the social and economic benefits it can bring. Our purpose is to ‘lift the digital capability of Australia’ and part of our approach is to support digital literacy in our communities. Our Community Ambassadors Program delivers digital literacy support into the community for small businesses and the general public. Ask one of our friendly team for assistance or to discuss issues related to your home or business connection – we’re here to help.
