The Town’s new Access & Inclusion Plan aims to ensure people of all abilities have equal access to the information, services, facilities and programs provided by the Town of Victoria Park.

From March to June this year, we asked our community about the access and inclusion issues that impact them to better understand how we can support people of all abilities.

From what we heard, our community would like to see:

  • Better physical access to public places
  • More support and social inclusion for culturally and linguistically diverse communities
  • Accessible and inclusive Town events
  • More employment opportunities for people with disability
  • Greater awareness of access and inclusion issues
  • Better safety at our public places

Based on community feedback and industry research, the new Access & Inclusion Plan is built around five central goals which tailor the plan to our community while addressing the requirements prescribed by the Department of Communities:

  1. Customer experience – Inclusive Town services and events
  2. Physical Access – Accessible Town facilities & public spaces
  3. Active Citizenship – everyone can participate in our local democracy
  4. Employment – everyone has the opportunity to be employed by the Town
  5. Governance & Impact – understanding the access & inclusion issues that impact our community
