The community is invited to celebrate the arrival of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games (GC2018) Queen’s Baton Relay (QBR) to the Town of Victoria Park on Saturday 24 February 2018 from 2pm to 4.30pm for a free, family-friendly event.

Telethon Community Cinemas in Burswood Park will host the Town’s community celebration featuring live stage shows, acrobatic performances, sporting activations, children’s entertainment, face painting and a very special performance by Australian icon Billie Court.

Spectators will have the chance to view the baton as it is carried from Sir James Mitchell Park in South Perth along the Swan River by water ski to Burswood on Swan in Burswood Park.

From there, the Queen’s Baton will make its way along the footpath where it will be welcomed to the community celebration event.

The five batonbearers who will carry the Queen’s Baton through Burswood Park are:

  • Ryan Green
  • Julie Hornby
  • Alan Jennings
  • Simone McMahon
  • Emily Smith

Mayor Trevor Vaughan was delighted the Town will be hosting the GC2018 Queen’s Baton Relay.

“Hosting the Queen’s Baton Relay isn’t just an exciting opportunity for us, it’s a way to highlight and showcase the Town of Victoria Park to people in Australia and the world who have been following the Queen’s Baton along its extraordinary journey,” he said.

“It’s also a wonderful way for our community to celebrate with a fantastic fun-filled event.”

The Gold Coast Games will be held between 4-15 April. They will be the biggest event to be staged in Australia in a decade.
