There’s no better feeling than bagging a bargain on a pre-loved treasure and this year’s Garage Sale Trail in the Town of Victoria Park, on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 October, is shaping up to be the biggest-ever sustainable shopping extravaganza with more than two million items expected to go on sale at 15,000 garage sales and stalls nationally.

The national reuse and community initiative now in its eight year is offering up a trove of delightfully curious, collectable and colourful finds for shoppers across the nation.

The program is made possible locally by the Town of Victoria Park this year and is set to see items go up for grabs at over 30 garage sales.

Garage Sale Trail Co-Founder Darryl Nichols commented, “past Garage Sale Trail events have seen anything and everything listed for sale -  from a definitive collection of 1970s Rolling Stone magazines, to a beachside apartment, miniature goats, free pet baptisms with every purchase and even a couple of grandpas listed at a bargain price!”

Weird and wonderful aside, the Trail provides thousands of Australians with a chance to re-home items that may otherwise end up in landfill

“Reusing or selling stuff you no longer want at a garage sale is a terrific way to do your bit for the environment and a great way to meet the neighbours too,” explained Town of Victoria Park Deputy Mayor Vicki Potter.

“The social nature of the day coupled with the remarkable items that are unleashed from the sheds, attics and garages across our region make Garage Sale Trail a pretty amazing collision of good times and good buys – all whilst promoting reuse.”

Shoppers can map out sales they’d like to visit over the weekend for free by searching the map and creating a Trail at www.garagesaletrail.com.au

About Garage Sale Trail

Garage Sale Trail is a not-for-profit social enterprise founded by Darryl Nichols and Andrew Valder. It seeks to educate Australians on the importance of reuse, and the need to take individual responsibility for the waste we generate, whilst also building stronger, more connected and more resilient communities.

Now in its eighth year nationally, the program has grown from a grass roots idea in Bondi Beach where it started in 2010. Garage Sale Trail is powered by 148 councils nationally.
