The Future Is Now: Vic Park Youth Art Awards – Calling for entries

Applications are open for young creatives within the Town of Victoria Park to exhibit their works as part of The Future Is Now: Vic Park Youth Art Awards this Arts Season. 

This Town-sponsored exhibition will run throughout April as part of Arts Season and aims to bring to light the talent of young local creatives within the Town through the opportunity to public exhibit their works, meet other artists and potentially win prizes aimed at furthering their creative journeys.

 

Who is Eligible to Enter?

The Vic Park Youth Art Awards are open to school-age students living in, or currently enrolled in a school within the Town of Victoria Park.

It is FREE to enter and participate, as this Award and Exhibition is sponsored by the Town of Victoria Park.

Awards and Prizes

All work submitted will be reviewed by a panel of professional artists and arts educators. There will be age-based awards, as well as open Primary and Secondary categories. Award recipients will be announced at an exhibition opening event on Thursday April 13 at 6pm.

Additionally, there are three subject matter awards** for works relating to three key themes;

1. Our Environment; works representing the natural world or relating to sustainability themes.

2. Our Heroes; works representing your personal hero (& tell us why), perhaps a grandparent, a leader, a teacher, emergency services or healthcare worker.

3. Our Town; works representing life in Victoria Park.

**Please note works entered do not need to respond to these themes.

 

During the exhibition, the public will be invited to register their vote for a people’s choice award in different age categories. Votes will close on Saturday 22 April and the winners announced at an exhibition closing event to be held on Sunday 23 April at 2pm.

The prize pool is currently sitting at over $1000. Awards will include any of the following: cash prizes, workshops/art class vouchers, books and art supply vouchers. For senior students there may also be an invitation for award winners and their guardian to connect with a local practicing artists for either a studio visit, or an ‘ask me anything’ conversation, to be arranged at their mutual convenience.

 

To Enter:

I. Entry to the Future is Now: Youth Art Awards is free, there is no cost to enter.

II. All entrants must be a resident of, or attend a school within the Town of Victoria Park.

III. Entries close Friday 31 March 6pm, all works received.
