Vic Park businesses to benefit from Town funding
Published on 21 October 2020
The Town of Victoria Park has responded to the local economy’s changing needs during the COVID-19 pandemic with grants now open to support businesses within the area.
Up to $8,000 funding is available for businesses and business-focussed groups through the Town’s Restart Business Grants, part of the Restart Vic Park COVID-19 Response Strategy.
These grants follow the Restart Community Grants and the Restart Arts Grants which have been awarded in recent months.
The Restart Business Grants have been created to support local businesses that have faced extraordinary challenges over the past few months and to support them in delivering projects that benefit them and the local economy. The total fund is $90,000.
There are two types of grants available. The Economic Development Grants support projects, activities and programs that benefit the local economy, with up to $8,000 on offer per project. The Small Business Resilience Grants support businesses to adapt, build resilience and grow during COVID-19 recovery, with a maximum value of $1,000 per recipient.
Mayor Karen Vernon said it was important to provide financial help to support resilience, vibrancy and innovation in the local economy.
“We recognise that our local businesses are a key part of the great ‘vibe’ going on in the Town right now. We are committed to supporting local businesses to thrive. Business grants are a first for the Town, and we are excited to be able to make them available.”
The Restart Business Grants are being offered in addition to the Town’s regular funding program. Businesses that have received grants from the Town previously are eligible for Restart Business Grants, provided they have fulfilled all reporting and acquittal requirements.
Applications for the Economic Development Grants close 5pm Friday 20 November, and the Small Business Resilience Grants are open until all funds are allocated.
