The story of Ed Millen Precinct started in 1911 when Mrs Elizabeth Baillie purchased Canning Location 2 which then became the site of the Rotunda Maternity Hospitalin 191
Since its transfer to the Town, the Council has sought to identify options to realise the full potential of the heritage-listed buildings and expansive reserve of Ed Millen Precinct, in order to minimise the on-going cost to maintain the precinct and maximise the benefit to the community of the amazing heritage assets
In December 2017, the Town sought to examine a range of possible uses along with community expectations through an Open House engagement event, as well as additional on-line surveys. The overall support from the community was for the activation and/or restoration of the Reserve; with entertainment and recreation having the highest proportion of mentions from voters.
