NOTICE OF INTENTION TO COMMENCE ROAD RENEWAL WORKS – HARRIS STREET BETWEEN BRIGGS STREET TO KEW STREET – NIGHT WORKS

The Town intends to commence road renewal works on Harris Street between Briggs Street to Kew Street. The proposed works will be undertaken in accordance with the approved annual works budget and will involve profiling and removal of the old bitumen from the road with new bitumen to be laid as well as kerb replacement works. Road closures and detours will be in place.

Due to the nature of the works, road renewal works will consist of three stages as listed below:

  • Profiling (removal of old bitumen) and bottom layer asphalt works for Harris Street will commence at night time Wednesday 12th January and Thursday 13th January 2022 from 6pm to 6am with weather permitting. (Access to the street roads will be limited from 6pm till 6am for this night).
  • Civil works for kerb replacement will commence in late January or early February 2022 (Residents/businesses will still be able to access the street roads during this phase of Civil Works).
  • Top layer asphalt works for Harris Street are tentatively scheduled in February 2022 with weather permitting. Dates may vary due to weather restrictions and contractor’s availability. Variable Message Boards will be set out on site once asphalt dates are confirmed. (On-street parking would not be available during the construction days. Access to the street roads will be limited from 6pm till 6am for these nights).

These works have to be carried out during night works due to heavy vehicle traffic volume and consequence of traffic congestion and safety of road users. Variable Message Boards will be set out on site for the dates. Dates may vary due to weather restrictions and contractor’s availability.

While works of this nature may cause some inconvenience, every effort will be made to ensure this is kept to a minimum. Traffic controllers will be on-site to maintain a safe traffic flow environment and will endeavour to accommodate local traffic movement requirements of residents at various times during the construction phase of the project. On-street parking would not be available during the construction days at all times.

During asphalt works process, access to the street roads would be limited from 6pm till 6am on construction days. For safety reasons, no vehicles will be allowed to drive on street roads once Contractor starts laying asphalt. Streets will be re-opened to road users as soon as it is safe to do so.

Reticulations along the kerb line on verge will be reinstated when undertaking the works and please contact us within 28 days of completion of Civil Works if you have any concerns about the reticulation reinstatement. We will request that all residents test their reticulation system as soon as the works have been completed.

The works to be undertaken will be to the benefit of all road users and your co-operation would be appreciated. If you wish to know more details of the works or have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact me on 08 9311 8111 or email admin@vicpark.wa.gov.au
