Containers for Change

On 1 October 2020 Western Australia will introduce the Containers for Change scheme, a state-wide container deposit scheme that lets you cash in eligible containers for 10 cents each.

Beverage containers currently account for 44% of all litter by volume in WA. The aim of the scheme is to reduce litter, increase recycling and create new opportunities for the community to participate in environment protection activities.

The community will be able to receive or donate the 10 cent refund they obtain by dropping off eligible containers at the approved locations.

In addition to the container donation/drop off locations located across the Town, container refund points near the Town are provided below. Please also refer to the Containers for Change website for operating hours and the latest updates.
