Community Composting Workshop - November

Past Event

Every year, the average Australian generates 180kg of compostable food waste, much of which ends up in landfills. This waste takes a long time to break down and produces methane gas, which is 25 times more potent than carbon dioxide. Consequently, food waste contributes to 10% of global greenhouse gas emissions and 80% of the Town's emissions each year.

To address this issue, the Town is running a home composting initiative. We offer a $100.00 rebate on a home composting system of your choice, such as Bokashi buckets, worm farms, or compost bins.

To participate, attend a two-hour workshop explaining the systems, record the diverted food waste, complete questionnaires, and join a closed Facebook page for assistance and tips.

We also offer a second workshop by the community garden where we will teach you more about home composting and how to use compost in your garden.

Workshops are held monthly on Saturday mornings at 9:30 at 99 Shepperton Road Victoria Park.
