Great Southern Bioblitz 2025

Join the Great Southern Bioblitz – and uncover the wild side of Vic Park! πΏπ
From 24–27 October, the Great Southern Bioblitz (GSB) invites nature lovers, families, schools and curious locals to help document the incredible biodiversity that surrounds us — from backyard bugs and street trees to birds, fungi, and everything in between!
Born right here in Australia, the Great Southern Bioblitz is a global citizen science event that unites people across the southern hemisphere to record and celebrate their local flora and fauna using the free iNaturalist app. Simply snap a photo, upload it, and your sighting becomes part of a massive international biodiversity database that helps scientists and communities protect nature.
Why get involved? Because the data you collect helps shape real conservation decisions — from tracking endangered species to spotting new invasive species. It’s also a fun, hands-on way to explore your local environment, learn more about native plants and animals, and connect with your community.
You don’t need to be an expert — just have a keen eye, a camera, and a sense of adventure. Every photo counts, every observation matters, and together we can put Vic Park’s biodiversity on the map!
π When: 24–27 October
π How: Download iNaturalist, explore your neighbourhood, and upload what you find.
Let’s see what’s living right under our noses — join the Bioblitz and help celebrate the wild heart of Vic Park! π³β¨
