LGBTQIA+ 101 & Pride Flag Mural
Past Event
Join Freedom Centre with their LGBTIQA+ 101 workshop, aiming to unpack some of the language and terminology relating to LGBTIQA+ communities. You will explore diversity in gender and sexuality and learn how to best support LGBTQIA+ folks. Freedom Centre will discuss how stigma and discrimination continue to impact LGBTIQA+ folks and how we can work towards overcoming this. You will learn practical approaches to allyship and inclusion, all within a safe space with plenty of room for questions and discussion.
In the second part of this workshop, join in on a collaborative progressive flag banner for pride! We will be exploring community mental health, LGBTQIA+ heroes and queer icons together in this workshop. Join us for a creative workshop where we will be collaborating on a banner that pays tribute to LGBTQIA+ heroes and queer icons for Pride. The meanings behind each colour of the flag will be exploring, such as sexuality, healing, sunshine, nature, art, harmony, and spirit. This workshop will be led by artists Gok-Lim Finch and Natalie de Rozario with the support from Headspace Cannington. Create something meaningful in a safe and healing environment with the local queer community.
