Our recruitment process is designed to be clear, inclusive and supportive.

Step 1 - Application

  • Jobs are advertised on SEEK.com or here on the Town’s website
  • You will need to upload a recent resume and a cover letter that addresses the selection criteria
  • Apply prior to the closing date
  • If you have any questions about the job call the People and Culture team (P&C)
  • Vacancies are advertised for a specific period and close at 4pm on the closing date shown in the advertisement. Late applications can't be accepted.
  • If you try to influence elected members about your application, you will be disqualified.

Step 2 - Interview

  • Sometimes it can take a few weeks between the job closure and interviews taking place, bear with us
  • If you are successful for an interview one of the P&C team members will give you a call
  • The interviews always have a panel that includes a member of P&C, the hiring manager and an independent staff member who is a stakeholder of the team.
  • The interview takes between 30 min to 1 hour


 

Step 3 - Pre Employment

  • Following the interview we will do reference checks with your supplied references
  • You will need to supply a police clearance and pass a pre-employment medical

Step 4 - Offer of Employment

  • You will get a phone call from the P&C team once the pre employment checks are complete to offer you the position
  • You can ask the P&C team any further questions about the role and contract inclusions
  • You will be supplied with paperwork to sign
  • Once the paperwork is signed you can start the digital onboarding process

Unsuccessful Applicants

  • You will receive an email if you weren’t successful in getting an interview for the role
  • We will aim to let you know 2-3 days post interview if we are progressing with your applications
  • You can ask for feedback from the panel on your application or interview
