Volunteer Opportunities in Victoria Park
Volunteer for the Town
Located at the Town’s Library building, Books on Wheels program is a home-bound delivery service to residents and their carers living in the Town who are physically unable to visit the library. There are two volunteer roles include:
- Selection: involves selecting items for the Books on Wheels patrons who each have different preferences card specifying formats, types and number of items. Skills desired for this role include:

- Safe manual handling techniques with trolleys, bags, packing

- Reading and comprehension

- Punctuality and time management

- Accountability – following instructions, undertake processes to completion

- Confidentiality of patron’s details, reading choices, history

- Knowledge of library collections
- Deliver: involves delivering the selected items to the Books on Wheels member residence. Skill desired for this role include:

- Safe driving ability with active driver’s license

- Safe manual handling techniques with trolleys, bags, lifting

- Punctuality and time management
Located at the Town’s Library building, Local History Volunteers play a key role in preserving our heritage. Your tasks may include:
- Organising documents into archival-safe storage with proper labelling
- Sorting and housing photographs appropriately
- Basic scanning of documents and photographs
- Visiting the State Library of WA and State Records Office (as directed by the Local History Coordinator) to scan collection items
- Cataloguing items within various sub-collections
- Supporting general administrative duties as needed
This role is ideal for those with an interest in history, organisation, and preservation.
Based at the Town’s Library building, Digital Literacy Volunteers support the development of vital tech skills in our community. Your responsibilities may include:
- Supporting or leading CoderDojo sessions for young coders
- Providing one-on-one digital literacy support for customers
- Assisting during digital events and workshops
- Promote and encourage the use of digital tools and applications

As a volunteer, you may:
- Assist with event operations and logistics
- Help collect feedback from attendees
