Hi, I’m Emily, and I’ve been part of the Town since April 2022. I wear a few hats here – I’m a Swim School Assistant, Swim Teacher, and currently doing my prac as a People and Culture Support Officer while studying HR at uni.
My journey started back in high school when I got my swim teacher qualification and taught VACswim. I was keen for regular shifts, so I joined Aqualife on weekends – and I’ve never looked back. After graduating, I had more time to work and that’s when I realised how much I loved it here. The culture is amazing – supportive, fun, and full of good vibes. Some of my closest mates are people I met on the job.
As a Swim School Assistant, I handle all the admin – class changes, cancellations, direct debits, website updates, promotions, and assessments. I also support our awesome team of teachers. As a Swim Teacher, I help kids and adults learn to swim and build water safety skills – something I reckon every Aussie should know.
Doing my prac with the People and Culture team has been a game-changer. The Town gave me the chance to apply what I’m learning at uni in a real-world setting, and the support has been unreal. Everyone’s flexible and understanding, especially around exams and prac placements.
What I love most about working here is the kindness, the laughs, and the personal and professional growth I’ve experienced. I’ve picked up leadership skills, improved my communication, and even got qualified to teach adults and people with complex needs.
Looking ahead, I’m excited to keep growing and helping out wherever I can. Even after I finish my degree, I’ll still be around on weekends – because this job is genuinely rewarding and means a lot to me
