Senior Health & Fitness Office

Hi, I’m Julie. I’ve been with the Town of Victoria Park for over 25 years, working as a Senior Health & Fitness Officer and Group Fitness Instructor. I started out teaching group fitness casually back in 1987, and over time moved into a full-time role. I’ve also worked as a gym instructor and stepped up as Acting Health & Fitness Coordinator when needed.

My job’s pretty hands-on. I help out with gym programming, answer member questions, do admin and invoicing, order stock, check equipment, and help keep the place clean and running smoothly. I also look after rosters for staff and group fitness classes, help with membership enquiries, and support rehab invoicing. It’s a bit of everything, really – and I love it.

I’ve always been into health and fitness. I’ve got my Cert III and IV in Fitness, plus qualifications in Beauty Therapy and Bowen Therapy. Helping people improve their health and wellbeing is something I’m really passionate about.

What makes working here special is the people. The staff are lovely, and there’s a real sense of teamwork. I’ve seen a lot of changes over the years, especially with systems and technology – and I’ll admit, I’m not the most tech-savvy. But with training and support from the Town, I’ve picked up new skills and gotten more confident with computers.

Fitness has always been part of my life, and being able to teach group classes as part of my job is great for my own wellbeing too. I love that the Town keeps improving and moving with the times – it shows they care about doing things better.

I’ve grown a lot here, thanks to training and learning from the team around me.  I support the Coordinator with daily operations and bring years of experience to everything I do.

Looking ahead, I’m excited to keep working, stay active, and maintain my health so I can enjoy future travel – something I really love. The Town’s been a big part of my journey, and I’m proud to be part of it.
