Leisure Customer Service Officer

Hi, I’m Neve Donaldson. I’m currently working as a Customer Service Officer and Leisurelife Duty Supervisor at the Town of Victoria Park, while studying full-time at uni. I started out back in 2021 as a netball umpire and bingo assistant, and I’ve been growing with the Town ever since.

As a CSO, I’m the first person people see when they walk into our Leisure Facilities, so how I present myself and represent the Town really matters. I help customers access services, answer questions, and make sure their experience is positive from the moment they arrive. As a Duty Supervisor, I manage our sporting comps and programs, and I’m responsible for the safety of everyone in the building while I’m on shift.

I’ve always loved sport and the way it brings people together. Friends and family who were members at the Centre had nothing but good things to say, and that made me want to be part of it. What really made me realise I loved working here was seeing just how many people have a connection to Leisurelife – whether they played WABL years ago or still come in for a workout. It’s amazing to be part of something that means so much to so many.

One of the biggest challenges has been learning how to manage different customer expectations, especially when things get a bit tense. But I’ve learnt to really listen, stay calm, and find solutions that work for everyone. Knowing the Town’s policies and how things run behind the scenes helps me give clear answers and keep things moving smoothly.

The flexible hours have been perfect for balancing work and uni, and I love that the Town supports mental and physical wellbeing. It’s a place that values community, diversity, and connection – and that’s something I really appreciate. I’ve grown a lot here, especially in how I communicate and handle pressure. I’ve become more patient, more empathetic, and more confident in solving problems.

Looking ahead, I’m excited to keep building my skills and taking on more responsibility. I’m studying to become a chiropractor, and the relationships and experience I’m gaining here are going to be a huge part of that journey. I feel lucky to be part of a team that’s making a real difference in people’s lives – and I’m keen to keep contributing as I grow.
