Workshops
Join Propel Youth Arts and FRANK in a series of FREE mural painting workshops to learn how to make a career in public art, discover how to make stencils and co-design a mural to transform Aqualife.
Week One: ART IS A REAL JOB!
- Learn all about the journey of becoming an artist, the various pathways to success and the importance of networking.
- During this workshop we will explore supportive resources, look at your rights as an artist and explore the things I wish I had known.
Week Two: TELLING A STORY – THE CREATIVE PROCESS
- Learn how to interpret a brief and create a narrative to fit your personal style of art.
- We will be using a site-specific example and exploring the various considerations for the mural that will be created as part of this project.
- The second half of this workshop will focus on brainstorming and collaboration to create a unique public art piece that will be installed in the community.
Week Three: TECHNICAL APPLICATIONS
- Now that we have a concept, how do we get it on the wall? Discover ‘old school’ analogue processes used by the experts and the transition to modern techniques.
- For this workshop we will look at stencil making, DIY aesthetic and how to use simple tools in multiple applications to create stickers, posters and tees!
