Koori artist Tabatha Davison offers an immersive experience called "Gurruway", exploring her connection to country and her journey as a member of the Stolen Generation. The experience lasts 15 minutes and includes an introduction, the immersive experience, and a discussion with the audience about their emotional reactions.
Davison uses shadow and fading light in her installation, requiring re-activation of the paints between each session. The experience features three panels and small accompanying paintings, with didgeridoo music enhancing the connection to country.
Post-experience, audience members are invited to join the artist for a short Q&A session regarding the work's origin and development.
This event is part of the Town of Victoria Park's Arts Season 2024.
