Overview
The Mindeera Advisory Group engages with the Town and the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community to provide advice for the delivery of the Town’s evolving Reconciliation Action Plan.

The Town of Victoria Park is calling for expressions of interest to join the Mindeera Advisory Group.
What is the Mindeera Advisory Group?
The group is a dynamic, dedicated and diverse group working in the space of reconciliation, respect and inclusion in the Town. The group provides strategic advice to Council to help deliver the Town's Reconciliation Action Plan
Focus areas for the group have included:
- Renaming parks and reserves in the Town
- Identifying significant Noongar sites
- Holding Town-wide ceremonies and celebrations of Whadjuk Noongar culture
- Caring for country by planting native trees and shrubs throughout the Town, and
- Partnering with local indigenous foundations, businesses and communities.
Membership and involvement
The membership term is usually two years and would run until October 2026. The group meets every second month and involvement includes:
- Attending meetings
- Reviewing information and material to inform discussions at meetings
- Making recommendations to help implement the Town’s Reconciliation Action Plan

If you are committed to reconciliation, passionate about community building and caring for country, and want to be part of this story of change, we encourage you to submit an expression of interest to join the group.

Expressions of interest are open until 19 May 2024. For further information contact the Town’s Reconciliation Officer on 9311 8111.
What happens next?
All expressions of interest from community members go to an assessment panel. Recommendations for membership must be approved by the CEO and by Council.
Officers will advise community members on the outcome of their EOI following the Ordinary Council meeting on 16 July 2024.
