FOGO has arrived!

FOGO stands for Food Organics, Garden Organics – it's our new 3-bin system rolling out to residential properties across the Town.

FOGO was introduced to residents in two phases:

  • Phase 1 (complete): in August 2025, residential households that already had a third bin for garden organics were delivered a FOGO kitchen caddy and started on the new FOGO system.
  • Phase 2 (complete): in December 2025, residential properties that were using the 2-bin system received a new FOGO bin and kitchen caddy, officially making the switch to FOGO.

Which bins to put out

The new FOGO system involves key changes to bin collections, with general bin collections moving to fortnightly and the FOGO bin collected weekly.

Bin Lid colour Collection frequency
FOGO Lime green Weekly
General waste Red (or some older bins have dark green lids) Fortnightly
Recycling Yellow Fortnightly (alternating with general waste)

Please note: weekly collection of general waste bins was maintained from the end of phase 2 rollout (15 December) until 5 January 2026 to help residents through the holiday period and adjust to the new FOGO system. For residents on the FOGO system - FOGO is now collected weekly, while recycling and general alternate fortnightly.

What time should I put my bins out?

Please ensure that your bin is no heavier than 70kg in weight, it is placed one metre from the kerbside and the lid is completely closed. When both your general waste and recycling bins are placed out together, please allow a 30cm distance between each bin.
