Social Media Community Guidelines
We encourage open, honest and respectful discussion on our social media pages but to make sure everyone has a fair go we have a few guidelines.
The following guidelines apply to all Town of Victoria Park social media pages, in addition to the Terms of Service of each social media platform.
When interacting with our pages, the Town requests that you:
- Represent your own views and do not impersonate or falsely represent any other person
- Exercise courtesy
- Respect the opinion of others
- Do not abuse, harass or threaten others
- Do not post personal information about yourself or others, especially private addresses or contact information
Moderation
The Town of Victoria Park reserves the right to hide or remove content from its social media pages that includes any of the following:
- Information that may compromise public safety or security
- Content that promotes or discusses unlawful behaviour
- Threatening, profane, abusive, or defamatory language
- Any other content deemed inappropriate by the Town of Victoria Park
In addition, the Town does not tolerate discussion on our social media pages that contains discrimination or hate speech. The Town defines these terms as:
- Discrimination – when someone is treated less favourably based on their background or certain personal characteristics.
- Hate speech – when someone is verbally attacked based on their background or certain personal characteristics.
In short, the Town does not tolerate treatment of people less favourably based on their:
- Race
- Ethnicicty
- Religion
- Gender
- Sexual preference or orientation
- Nationality
- Political beliefs
The Town may hide comments that breach these guidelines and repeat offenders may be temporarily blocked.
By liking, following or otherwise interacting with the Town’s social media pages, you acknowledge these terms and the terms of the platform.
