Arts & Culture Strategy

The Town is proud to present the new Arts and Culture Strategy 2026-2030, a refreshed vision for how creativity, culture and public art will continue to shape our community over the coming years.

Developed by consultation with local artists, community members, and cultural partners, the Arts and Culture Strategy sets out the Town’s commitment to fostering a vibrant, inclusive and expressive public realm. It provides a roadmap for how we support artistic practice, commission public art, celebrate our diverse stories, and create engaging cultural experiences for everyone who lives, works, and spends time in Vic Park.

This strategy builds on our strong foundations in arts and culture while exploring new opportunities to:

  • Support and empower local artists
  • Enhance public spaces through thoughtful and inspiring art
  • Champion cultural diversity and storytelling
  • Strengthen creative partnerships across community, business and industry
  • Increase access to arts experiences for people of all ages and backgrounds

We invite you to explore the Arts Strategy and discover how we’re working to make the Town of Victoria Park an even more creative, connected and culturally rich place.

Making Space for Culture study

In 2021 the Town partnered with the Cities of Perth, South Perth and Vincent to conduct a study into the demand for creative maker spaces in the inner city. The Making Space for Culture report found significant demand and proposed a wide range of recommendations for each local government to facilitate these spaces. The Town is currently considering which actions it can undertake through the implementation of the Social Infrastructure Strategy and Program and the annual business planning cycle.
