Am I eligible to participate?
To participate in Open Studios you must be an artist operating within the Town of Victoria Park, or be a member of a creative arts group or association based within the Town of Victoria Park who are willing to host you in their space.
Additionally, you or your group must be able to participate both days of the event Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 March 2026 from 10 am to 4 pm.
What if I don't have a studio?
We understand that many artists work from various locations, whether it's a kitchen table, a corner of a room, or anywhere else that inspires creativity. We encourage you to set up a small “working space,” complete with a demo or display of your arts practice. Alternatively, artists are welcome to share their studio or exhibition spaces located within the Town of Victoria Park (creating a 'hub' - see below). We also encourage artists to reach out to local community spaces and businesses who may be open to hosting.
What is a 'hub' or 'home hub'?
As part of Open Studios, a Home Hub is a shared space where a group of artists exhibit together in one home studio. It’s designed to make participation easier and more social for artists who either have extra studio space or don’t have a suitable studio of their own.
There are two ways to be involved:
Hosting a Home Hub - If you have a home studio and some extra space, or simply want company during Open Studios, you can choose to host a Home Hub. As a host, you’ll welcome one or more artists into your studio for the event. We’ll help connect you with artists looking for a location.
Joining a Home Hub - If you don’t have a suitable home studio, you can join a Home Hub. We’ll match you with a local artist who is hosting.
Please note that this option is for those who don’t already have a partnership arranged. Before opting in, we encourage you to reach out to your own networks to see if anyone is willing to partner with you. If you already have a partnership arranged, each artist must complete the below registration form and list the same studio address.
What do I present to the public during Open Studios?
During Open Studios, the artists present their creative process, tools, and work-in-progress pieces to give visitors an inside look at how their art is made. They can also showcase finished works, share the stories behind their inspiration, and demonstrate techniques to help visitors appreciate the effort and skill involved. While artists can sell their work, it remains an open studio rather than a marketplace, emphasising the authentic, behind-the-scenes experience of the artist’s studio practice. The goal is to provide an engaging, educational, and inspiring visit that highlights the creative process.
Can I sell my artworks from my studio?
Yes! You can sell your artworks out of your studio during Open Studios.
Do I need to keep my studio open for the whole weekend of Open Studios?
Yes, to be eligible to participate in Open Studios, you must commit to being present and having your studio open to the public from 10am-4pm on both Saturday 21 March and Sunday 22 March 2026.
