In the Making

Sunday 26th April 2026

In The Making is a creative development program led by Blue Joy Theatre Co. It brings together early-career and underrepresented artists with young people aged 13-19 to collaboratively create new theatre for young audiences.

Through facilitated workshops, young participants contribute ideas, stories, and lived experiences that shape the work without the expectation of performing. Artists respond to this material, developing it into a live performance alongside a Year 12 student, who is embedded as both collaborator and performer. The program centres youth-led storytelling, collaboration, and mentorship, while building a scalable model for inclusive theatre-making in schools and community contexts.

Are you a young storyteller?

Blue Joy Theatre Co. is looking for teens aged 13–19 to take part in a FREE workshop to help create a short live theatre performance for teens and young adults.

If you love telling stories and want to help shape a performance that young people actually want to see and hear, we’d love to work with you.

This opportunity is for young people interested in drama, music, poetry, theatre, and storytelling.

Requirements:

    • Available for a workshop on Saturday 26 April, 12.30–2.30pm
    • Available for a showing on Sunday 3 May, 1–3pm
    • Passionate about theatre and storytelling

Interested? Email hello@bluejoytheatre.com and tell us why you would like to participate!
