Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee

The Town of Victoria Park invites Expressions of Interest for the appointment of a Chair and Deputy Chair to the Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee.  The Committee meets approximately four times per year in the Council's Chambers after business hours for up to 3 hours at each meeting.

The Committee’s Terms of Reference are:

  1. to support Council in fulfilling its governance and oversight responsibilities in relation to financial reporting, internal control structure, risk management systems and external audit functions and ethical accountability
  2. to critically examine audit and management reports from external audits and ensure that the Town appropriately implements any actions
  3. to receive and review reports prepared by the Chief Executive Officer in accordance with the Regulations and present a report to Council on its findings and recommendations.

The Chair and Deputy Chair are paid positions in accordance with the Salaries and Allowances Tribunal Determination and commensurate with the level of appointment. Each position is for a period of two years (October 2025 to October 2027).

Applicants should possess:

  • senior financial management experience
  • a comprehensive understanding of internal and external audit processes
  • a comprehensive understanding of risk management
  • experience in chairing meetings, governance and meeting rules.

Applicants must be willing to undertake training in local government meeting procedures.
