Turn Kitchen Waste into Garden Gold and Learn to Compost!

Past Event

The average Australian throws out 180kg of compostable food waste each year—most of which ends up in landfill, where it releases methane, a greenhouse gas 25 times more potent than carbon dioxide. Food waste contributes to 10% of global emissions and a massive 80% of the Town’s waste-related emissions.

But there’s a simple, powerful solution: composting! There’s a compost system for every home and every kind of waste—even things you might think can’t be composted, like meat, dairy, citrus, and cooked food scraps.

Whether you have a backyard or a balcony, the team from Urban Revolution will help you find the right system for your unique situation and teach you how to turn your food scraps into nutrient-rich compost that boosts your garden’s health, saves you money on expensive soil inputs, while reducing your bin load and your carbon footprint!

Join the Town’s composting initiative and get a $100 rebate on your chosen system. Simply attend this engaging two-hour workshop, record your diverted waste, complete a few short surveys, and join a closed Facebook group for ongoing tips and support. It’s never been easier to build a healthier garden—and a healthier planet—one bucket of scraps at a time.
