For those starting a small business or looking for a commercial lease, the Town of Victoria Park’s main streets offer a great option. Not only do they play a significant part in the Town’s economic growth and prosperity; they also offer businesses the opportunity to operate, invest, and flourish in the heart of the Victoria Park community.

Main streets are vital for a community’s prosperity, employment and wellbeing. They are the place that people go to work, shop, access community and professional services, socialise, and be entertained.

Victoria Park is home to a number of thriving main streets that offer a positive pedestrian experience, access to nature and greenery, are located close to nearby residences, and provide opportunities for an array of businesses to become part of the fabric and future of the Town.

Albany Highway

Undoubtedly Perth’s most iconic high street, Albany Highway has built a reputation as a successful high street thanks to its array of shops and visual interests that consistently bring people to the area and help to support and sustain local businesses.

With the recent addition of Vic Quarter and plans to provide more high density mixed-use and residential development in the area, Albany Highway is perfectly positioned to accommodate new food and retail offerings, as well as professional services.

The Albany Highway main street runs through a number of suburbs, including East Victoria Park, St James and Victoria Park – all of which have their own unique offerings and exciting development initiatives planned for the future

East Victoria Park - Albany Highway

This vibrant inner city area offers significant character and heritage charm and is known as a unique entertainment strip with a diverse range of food and retail offerings.

Not only is it frequented by local residents in the area, but the many visitors who utilise its well serviced public transport offerings, including the Armadale/Thornlie train line and high frequency bus services connecting East Victoria Park to other major centres, including the Perth CBD, Burswood and Curtin University.

The recent upgrade to John Macmillan Park in the heart of East Victoria Park has provided major revitalisation and new opportunities for businesses in the area. Further plans are underway to develop a Macmillan Precinct Masterplan, which will guide the future of the site and ensure the precinct continues to meet the evolving needs of the community going forward.

St James - Albany Highway

The suburb of St James is the commercial and residential gateway to the Town of Victoria Park. Located just 7 kilometres from the CBD with easy accessibility and close to key activity centres, St James offers an abundance of opportunities for businesses to utilise its underdeveloped commercial space.

The area has a bright future, with the Town’s Activity Centre Strategy identifying the stretch of Albany Highway between Hillview Terrace and Shepperton Road as a District Centre and shopping node serving regional and local populations. Recent property acquisitions from large scale commercial developers will provide additional opportunities for local businesses in the area and help ensure its future as a vibrant commercial hub.

Victoria Park - Albany Highway

The suburb of Victoria Park offers residential housing set amongst Albany Highway’s diverse mix of cafes, restaurants, bars, retail, supermarkets, car yards, gymnasiums and historic hotels.

With great transport routes servicing the area and direct access to Optus Stadium, the Burswood Entertainment Precinct and the Perth CBD, Victoria Park serves as a renowned visitor and tourist location, attracting both a vibrant night time and day time economy.

Plans for higher density mixed-use and residential development in coming years will create a number of exciting opportunities for new and existing businesses to support the growing diversity of the area’s local economy and street life.

Archer/Mint Street

The town centre of Mint Street in the heart of the Carlisle community is a traditional main street with a variety of businesses in small scale traditional shopfronts.

This important urban corridor is expected to see substantial changes over the next 10 years, creating numerous opportunities for businesses in the area. The significant investment by the State Government through their Metronet program will see the Carlisle train station rebuilt, elevated and relocated closer to Archer and Mint Streets to improve passenger experience through functional design and modern amenities, while also catering for future growth.

In addition, the Town’s Archer Mint Streetscape Improvement Plan will focus on creating a more vibrant street and commercial environment for the area, with upgrades to the Town Centre, improved and varied transport options and additional tree canopy

Gallipoli Street and Lathlain Place

Gallipoli Street and Lathlain Place are part of the Town’s small local neighbourhood centres that provide a place for residents to meet and new and existing local businesses to thrive.

Recent streetscape improvements to both Gallipoli Street and Lathlain Place have seen these two areas revitalised to become more focal and vibrant places for local residents.

With further improvements expected to come through the Town’s Lathlain Precinct Redevelopment Project, these areas will no doubt become highly desirable local centres for residents and businesses alike.

Burswood Road

Burswood Road is another good option for those looking for commercial leases or to set up a new business in the area.

The Burswood South mixed-use precinct is currently the Town’s second largest commercial activity centre, housing a range of professional and business support services, social and community services, as well as retailing and service industries.

Further growth and opportunities are anticipated through the revitalisation of the area’s streets and public spaces, as part of the Burswood Streetscape Improvement Plan.

The Plan aims to transform the Burswood precinct into an attractive and thriving place for business and living over the next ten years by improving pedestrian safety and amenity, vehicle speeds, streetscape amenity, landscaping and tree canopy.
