The Town will introduce paid parking on the west end of Burswood Road, adjacent Charles Paterson Park, starting July 2026.
This change brings the area in line with surrounding streets, which already operate under paid parking arrangements.
What’s changing?
Paid Parking will apply to approximately 28 on street bays from Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 6:00pm.
Why this change is being made
This change follows a Council-approved review of parking in the area, as part of a broader approach to managing parking more effectively and consistently across the Town. It aligns with nearby paid parking areas and supports wider parking management objectives, including improving access, turnover and fairness for all users.
On-street parking is a shared community asset that must support a broad range of users, including local businesses, park visitors and residents. Introducing paid parking is one of the tools used to help manage demand and maintain reasonable access to available spaces over time.
Recent monitoring indicates that parking demand in this area has been consistently high. This data helps illustrate current usage patterns and has informed the broader review and decision-making process.

Our approach
The Town regularly reviews parking in response to growth, changing land use and community needs. These reviews are guided by Council decisions and aim to ensure parking is managed consistently, fairly and in a way that delivers the greatest overall benefit to the community.
This project is part of that ongoing approach to improving how parking supports residents, visitors and local businesses.
