AusAlert national testing

Published on Friday, 3 July 2026 at 3:28:00 PM

AusAlert is a new national warning system that will go live in October 2026, helping keep people informed and prepared during local and national emergencies.

Key information about the test:

  • Test alerts will be sent directly to mobile devices and may include a loud siren, vibration and screen flashing, even when devices are set to silent.
  • Before the system goes live, AusAlert will be tested with a nationwide test alert.
  • In Western Australia, the nationwide test alert will be issued at 12.00 noon (local time) on Monday 27 July 2026.

To help reduce this risk, the Centre for Women's Safety and Wellbeing recommends that anyone with a device which may not be safe to receive an AusAlert — particularly people who use a hidden safety device — should:

  • One hour before the test: switch the device off or place it in aeroplane mode (where available).
  • During and after the test: keep the device switched off or in aeroplane mode for up to 24 hours after the alert

Plan ahead. Stay safe.
