The Town of Victoria Park is inviting community feedback on a proposed amendment to Local Planning Scheme No. 2, relating to land within Technology Park, Bentley (Special Use Zone SU1).
The amendment is looking to insert the following into the Town's Local Planning Scheme No. 2:
Insert (3) under ‘Clause 35 – Restrictive Covenants’:
(3) A restrictive covenant affecting land in SU1 – Technology Park, Bentley depicted in Schedule D –Special Use Zones that has the effect of restricting sale, lease, subdivision, land use, construction, building height, fencing, parking or materials which may be developed on the land is extinguished.
The amendment seeks to extinguish outdated restrictive covenants that currently apply to properties within Technology Park in Bentley. These covenants were historically placed on titles to control how land can be sold, leased, subdivided, or developed.
Technology Park is evolving into a contemporary research and innovation hub. Removing old covenants helps ensure the planning framework is clear and consistent, flexible for future development, and aligned with the Town’s and State’s long-term vision for the precinct.
The proposal is a “standard” amendment, meaning it doesn’t significantly change the planning framework or propose any major policy changes.
