Disposing of hazardous waste in your regular household bins is a danger to yourself, Town staff and the environment at large.
The Town is holding a hazardous waste drop-off day at the depot (218 Planet Street, Welshpool) from 9am-1pm on Saturday 28 June 2025, so you can dispose of any of the materials below in a safe manner.
What can you bring to the drop-off:
- Asbestos products (no more than six sheets. Only accepted if wrapped in black plastic and sealed)
- Pesticides and herbicides
- Paints and solvents
- Fluorescent globes and tubes (max. 10)
- Motor and cooking oil (max. 20L)
- All batteries
- Smoke detectors
- Gas bottles
- Heavy metals (e.g. mercury)
- Aerosol cans
- E- Waste
Please note, any commercial quantities of hazardous waste will be refused at the discretion of the Town. Any unidentifiable poisons/chemicals will be checked by the qualified technician on site on the day. Ensure all poison containers are not corroded and are in safe condition prior to transporting them.
