Paint the Town purple with us this Finals Season

Published on Wednesday, 26 August 2026 at 2:42:28 PM

Here we are, on the eve of (proper) finals, collectively wondering if This. Could. Be. It. 🫣
Could Freo be about to continue their regular season run of form to clinch a maiden Premiership three decades in the making?

Could the “yeah, but how many flags do you have” quip hurled between rows at so many Derbies, be about to meet its overdue end?

It’s an oft-remarked, but forever true sentiment that a week is a long time in footy – and there are still four more of them left between now and Grand Final day. But with only four regular season losses and the Minor Premiership handily sewed up, the boys in purple have done enough to fill fans and neutrals alike with the trickiest but nicest of things: hope.

Hope that is further buoyed by another convenient truth: Freo are undefeated at home; which makes the fact they’ve earned themselves TWO home finals a pretty big tick in the pro column, both for the team and, selfishly, us here in the Town.

  • Home to Optus Stadium: ✅.
  • Endless bars, restaurants and attractions a stone’s throw away: ✅.
  • Busses and trains direct from the stadium to said venues: ✅.
  • All the stars aligned for a great day/night out: Also ✅.

Before, during and after the game, we’ll be celebrating throughout the Town. Catch up with friends for a pre-game drink, catch the match on the big screen at one of our many pubs and bars, treat yourself to an after-match feed, or do all three!

We’ll be lighting key locations purple along Albany Highway in honour of the Anchor Men and partnering with local businesses to showcase their footy specials – so you know exactly where to go.

Locked in so far…

Thurs 3 Sept:
Freo v Hawks, Optus Stadium (6.10pm ball up)
