Tree Removal Notice | Elizabeth Baillie Development Site
The Town of Victoria Park regrets to advise that two mature pine trees at the Elizabeth Baillie development site have died and will need to be removed. The trees now pose a significant safety risk due to their deteriorating condition. Removal works are scheduled to take place this Saturday, 18 October 2025.
The Elizabeth Baillie site is a highly valued heritage precinct, and landscape preservation has been a key consideration throughout the redevelopment process. While the Town has prioritised retaining existing trees wherever possible, every effort has been made to minimise tree removals and ensure the project contributes positively to the local environment.
Here's a summary of tree removals and plantings across the precinct:
Elizabeth Baillie House (Blackoak development site)
- Of the 39 trees within the lease area, 18 have been removed (including the two pines). Most were non-native species, and four were in poor health.
- The redevelopment will include 116 new trees and extensive landscaping.
Edward Millen Park
- Tree removals for the park upgrade were reduced from an expected 30 to 13.
- The park upgrade has delivered 43 new trees and 23,160 new plants, which will contribute to a greener, more biodiverse public space.
Urban greening is a vital part of our commitment to creating a healthier, more sustainable Town. Trees and vegetation help cool our streets, support local wildlife, and improve wellbeing for everyone. We appreciate the community’s understanding and support as we continue to balance heritage, safety, and environmental care.
