Tree removal report deferred to enable peer review

The Town of Victoria Park will present its report into tree removals at Elizabeth Baillie Park in March after Council agreed at its February meeting to extend time to allow for an independent peer review of the findings.

In November 2025, the Town acknowledged that additional trees were removed during construction works at Elizabeth Baillie Park beyond those originally planned and commenced a formal investigation.

The investigation was conducted using the Incident Cause Analysis Method (ICAM) principles to ensure a structured and thorough examination of what occurred.

Mayor Karen Vernon said the decision to incorporate a peer review into the process reflected the Town’s commitment to transparency and good governance.

The Elizabeth Baillie Precinct Redevelopment has seen the heritage-listed Elizabeth Baillie House, surrounding buildings, and the soon-to-reopen parkland transformed into a vibrant, inclusive and sustainable hub for all to enjoy.

The final report will now be presented to Council at its meeting on 17 March 2026.
