Community champions from across the Town have been recognised during National Volunteer Week, with Mayor Karen Vernon paying tribute to the individuals whose generosity and care help make the Town a better place to live.
A special Volunteer Sundowner was held at Baillie Hill on Friday 22 May, celebrating the individuals and groups who dedicate their time to supporting others and strengthening local connections.
More than 100 representatives from local clubs and organisations attended the event, where Mayor Vernon announced Leon Stevens (Young Volunteer), Debbee Campbell (Local Volunteer) and Connect Village Hub (Group Volunteer) as the 2026 award recipients.
The occasion also recognised the many nominees who have contributed to our community, acknowledging their outstanding efforts and positive impact across the Town.
