Getting there

Driving

Parking will be limited due to road closures, however there will be spaces available at John Macmillan Park, as well as additional sites in the area. 

ACROD Parking will be available in the following locations:

• Hawaiian’s Park Centre public carpark
• Hubert Street/IGA public carpark
• John Macmillan Park (via Kent Street entry — a valid ACROD pass is required to access this parking)

As always, we do recommend using alternative transport where possible.

Walking or riding

If you live local, walking down to the party is the best way to go! If you'd prefer to ride your bike, bike racks are available at usual locations in the Town. Additional bike parking will be available on the day at John MacMillan Park. A map will be available closer to the event date so you can plan ahead.

Public transport

Buses 220, 960, 177 and 178 are the best way to get to the event, but there will be some service disruptions due to the road closures on Albany Highway. To plan your journey, visit Transperth's JourneyPlanner.

Taxi and rideshare

There are plenty of taxi and rideshare options available. For passengers living with disability, there is a taxi service that operates 24 hours a day. It is recommended to book this service 24 hours in advance on (08) 9333 3377.

Road closures

To support the safe delivery of the Summer Street Party, the following road closures will be in place on the day. Residents and visitors will need to use the signed detour routes in place.

Traffic Management (from 6am):

• Albany Highway event area closed to general traffic
• Staffed traffic management checkpoints located at:
  - Albany Highway (both ends)
  - Westminster Street
  - Canterbury Terrace
  - Basinghall Street
  - Mint Street
• Access restricted to authorised event vehicles only
• Traffic detours will be in place via Dane Street at the south-east end of Albany Highway, and via Sussex Street at the north-west end of Albany Highway.

Hostile Vehicle Mitigation (from 3pm):

• Physical vehicle barriers deployed at all traffic management access points, plus Hampshire Street.
• Measures designed to prevent unauthorised vehicle access into the event footprint during operational hours.

Operational Oversight:

• A dedicated roaming Event Supervisor will monitor conditions throughout the event, coordinate responses to emerging issues, and liaise with traffic management, security and event personnel as required.
