Archer Mint Streetscape Improvement Plan Archer and Mint streets form a central roadway linking Orrong Road with Albany Highway and connecting people to the Carlisle Town Centre, Carlisle train station, East Victoria Park Primary School and East Victoria Park Town Centre. In the Town’s draft Local Planning Strategy, this corridor forms the western boundary of the Carlisle Station / Archer Street Precinct and connects to the Oats Street Precinct. These Precincts are defined as activated, transit-orientated and mixed-use areas that capitalise on their proximity to Perth and the Albany Highway Centre. Macmillan Precinct Redevelopment Project The Macmillan Precinct is a much-valued hub of community services. In 2018, a detailed audit commissioned by the Town shows that significant renewal and investment in the coming decades will be required to replace the Precinct’s ageing buildings, including the Vic Park Library and Leisurelife Centre, and meet changing community needs. Rutland Avenue Shared Path In partnership with the Department of Transport, the Town is constructing an off-road walking and cycling path that will connect Welshpool Road to Great Eastern Highway and complete the Principal Shared Path route along the Armadale Railway. METRONET A State Government city-wide project with many facets – one being the removal of level crossings and the elevation of the rail line through Victoria Park and Canning – METRONET works are scheduled to begin in our Town in 2023 and will have impacts for commuters, as well as nearby residents and business owners. Causeway Pedestrian and Cyclist Bridge The Causeway Pedestrian and Cyclist Bridge is a Main Roads WA project, being delivered by the Causeway Link Alliance, and will be constructed to improve access across the Swan River. Network Renewal Undergrounding Program Pilot The Town of Victoria Park and the City of Canning councils approved a NRUPP partnership with Western Power, to deliver an estimated $15.6 million of local power infrastructure investment covering St James, Bentley and East Victoria Park.
