Community idea blossoms into local planting project

A community‑led planting project has come to life this week, thanks to the initiative of local residents Larissa and Julie, whose idea helped transform a neighbourhood space at 28 Ramsden Avenue into a greener, more welcoming place for all.

The planting event brought community members together to improve the local environment, demonstrating how ideas raised by residents can become real projects delivered by the Town.

Larissa, one of the project’s proponents, said she was proud to see the idea take root.

“I’m humbled to see this project come to fruition and very grateful to the Town of Victoria Park for being proactive in greening the area. I believe that one day this space will have a cooling effect, bring food for the black cockatoos and be a peaceful place for bird watching.”

The locally targeted event not only enhanced the area’s greenery, but also strengthened community connections by bringing people together around a shared goal.

The Town encourages residents to play an active role in shaping their neighbourhoods, just like Larissa and Julie.

Individuals can propose projects that benefit the community by submitting a Planting Project Proposal here. Not‑for‑profits and local community groups may be eligible for support through the State Government's Let’s Grow Grants, which helps fund initiatives that create greener, more connected spaces. This project is a great example of how community ideas, supported by the Town, can grow into meaningful local outcomes.
